Gutty and Post 1900 – Thornberry – Green Bay
July 31, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

In the event that you cannot meet earlier at Jim and Judy’s home, the day officially begins at 9 at the clubhouse with the first tee ball at 9:30.
The morning round is played with either the McIntyre replica Braid (available for $10 each or 3 for $20. Cash exclusive). Bring your own Park ball or similar gutty. This nine-hole historic layout beckons hickory players with large greens, two pin locations or double greens. The morning event is limited-flight ball with sand tees and plays to approximately 2200 yards. The defending champion is Joe Gerard and the record is held by Ernie Ernst with a 32. Close behind is Steve Simer with 34.
The morning round features select hole competitions deemed equitable for all skill levels. To wit, the longest putt ever made on hole 6 was a 72 footer by Teddy Stevenson.
Afterwards, everyone drives a cart to Jim and Judy’s home for comaraderie, wee nips, Yuengling, Spotted Cow, and non-toxic favorites such as ginger beer and Baumeister Root beer. If all goes well, Doc Eike will make the event’s five-fork favorite dish of American Haggis. Grilled specialities ranging from chicken breasts to Bangers and mash will also be served. Awards and historic priceless prizes follow lunch.
Then it’s back to the clubhouse for a traditional hickory round on the Legends Championship course, home to the annual LPGA July event. First tee time at 1:30. Wee Nip and refreshments will be available along designated holes. Upon conclusion, you’re free to hit the road or reconvene (optional) at the clubhouse for their Saturday Ribeye special.
The Basics: this event is participatory and pay-it-forward. Discounted green fee is paid directly to the course. $75 estimated total fee includes 27 holes of historic golf with cart on both courses and an option of walking in the morning.
Registration is open. Contact Jim “Wally” Koss directly:
